  • Purpose and Scope

    Delivers at a high level of competency in Transportation. To serve as the initial contact for the Transportation Department and responds to initial concerns and requests for information. Assesses and performs analysis on data, and prepares data to facilitate relationships and customer service functions of the organization. Responsibilities requiring an understanding of both theory and practice.

    Essential Job Functions

    1. Receives and responds to routine and critical calls for staff, school administrative and transportation vendor.
    2. Assists in maintaining departmental inventory records of equipment, software, materials and supplies.
    3. Develops and applies solutions to daily transportation-related concerns which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity and competency in managing daily assignments.
    4. Supports district employees, vendors and communities, including troubleshooting in response to their inquiries and provide high level customer service.
    5. Collaborates with management and transportation staff to determine the type, scope, and purpose of analysis. Work with analysts and management to complete the assigned project work.
    6. Ensures high-quality service and efficiency of assigned transactions and make suggestions for process improvements to the transportation leadership team.
    7. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, correspondence, and files related to assigned service, activities, and operations; provide for appropriate research and compiles reports, as needed.
    8. Performs basic filing, mail pickup, distribution and telephone coverage. Handles all incoming forms, faxes, electronic correspondence and other documents efficiently.
    9. Accesses routing data and provides information to appropriate personnel.
    10. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Graduation from accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources, Education or related field, or equivalent, for a total education/experience of 4 years.  (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).


    Degree Equivalency Formula:


    Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

    Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included. 

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Knowledge of the functions of the school division and its operating procedures
    • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to operate a computer and use appropriate software applications and peripheral office equipment
    • Ability to tackle the operational challenges in a complex, changing political and educational environment
    • Ability to manage daily administrative tasks without losing sight of long-term goals and planning.
    • Exercises good judgment in manner, tone and way of speaking in a customer service setting
    • Extremely customer service-oriented with a high level commitment to customer satisfaction
    • Takes personal accountability for resolving customer issues

    Physical Requirements and Working Environment

    Physical Demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment; must be able to use hands and fingers for sign language.


    Unavoidable Hazards:  The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards.
