  • Purpose and Scope

    Delivers at a competency in scheduling, coordinating and managing the work activities of clerical and technical specialists for the Career and Technical Education Department. The incumbent assesses and performs analysis on data, and prepares data to facilitate clerical and administrative support for the Career and Technical Education functions of organization. Responsibilities require understanding of both theory and practice.

    Essential Job Functions

    1. Recommend and review expenditures for the area of responsibility; provides fiscal data for preparation of the annual budget.
    2. Collaborate with manager and other District staff to develop short- and long-range plans for assigned program or functional area.
    3. Research and explore feasibility of implementing new methods, technologies or programs.
    4. Develop, schedule, implement, monitor and evaluate all programs, projects and operations in area of responsibility.
    5. Research, compile data for, and prepare various statistical, administrative and/or financial reports as required.
    6. Supervise and evaluate clerical and administrative support staff. Provide staff with resources needed to successfully perform work.
    7. Execute the responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards. Use personal judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles.
    8. Prepare and submit correspondence and basic reports requiring data retrieval and analysis with minimum direction.
    9. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Education or related field or equivalent, for a total education/experience of 4 years. Secretarial/managerial certification preferred.


    Degree Equivalency Formula:

    Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

    Master’s Degree=6 years plus required years of experience. 


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Good analytic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to swiftly and accurately understand complex data and perform analysis
    • Skill in developing data-supported solutions and using fact-based logic
    • Ability to translate difficult analysis in easy-to-understand manner and present to a broad audience
    • Ability to work independently, to supervise staff, and to coordinate multiple tasks jointly
    • Knowledge of current computer technology and software, and office management procedures
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to tackle the operational challenges of the merged school district in a complex, changing political and educational environment
    • Ability to manage daily administrative tasks without losing sight of long-term goals and planning.

    Physical Requirements and Working Environment

    Physical Demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment; must be able to use hands and fingers

    Unavoidable Hazards:  The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards.


    Sensory (ADA) Requirements: The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities.
