Purpose and Scope

The Multimedia Specialist supports the Communications Departments efforts to shape and project the image of Memphis Shelby County Schools to its internal and external stakeholders. This position plays a critical role in developing modern and compelling design/production/presentation strategies for execution across all marketing and communications materials.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Assists the graphics team with planning and support of  the District’s and department’s communication and marketing priorities, including coordination with Communications staff and various District departments and schools.
  2. Produces informative, creative and compelling designs, videos, photographs and other visual print and digital materials to support the District’s vision and image.  May include flyers, posters, publications, videos, animation, photography, advertisements and marketing materials, PowerPoints, promotions, digital media (web and social media) and other related items.
  3. Supports the daily operations of the graphics team, including project planning, project management, goal-setting and problem solving.
  4. Ensures that the workgroup’s goals and activities are in aligned with and support the broader goals and objectives of the Communications department and that the executions of responsibilities are in accordance to lawful and ethical standards. 
  5. Supports the responsibilities of the graphics team in order to support the department’s creative vision and standards, including campaigns, events, District initiatives and community engagement, etc. 
  6. Implements and adheres to visual identity standards and instructs employees/partners on how to use them.
  7. Coordinates with the graphics team to ensure all District design projects are supported and completed according to defined standards and timelines.
  8. Coordinates with the graphics team to establishes and maintain vendor relations for creative services as needed (advertising, printing, production, etc.)
  9. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
     

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited university or college with an Associate’s degree in Art, Graphic Arts or a related field; Plus, two (2) years of  related professional experience, OR an equivalent combination of realated education and experience totaling four (4) years. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included. 

Additional Job Details

The ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.
