Purpose and Scope

Works with the Innovation team to provide school personnel with training and support needed to ensure implementation of virtual school initiatives such as blending learning or flipped classrooms. This individual may also be called on to oversee the implantation and ongoing management of district innovation initiatives at the school, regional, and district level. This person will also analyze data from the Memphis Virtual School (MVS) to identify issues and weaknesses and work with schools, teachers and students to manage and rectify any identified problems impeding student success. This person will be directly responsible for assisting full time MVS students with CTE courses during hours where their part time teacher of record is unavailable. 

Essential Job Functions

  1. Analyzes and interprets Memphis Virtual School success data for counselors, principals, parents, and students.
  2. Advises and mentors school administrators and MVS teachers to improve student success in the virtual school program.
  3. Visits schools to ensure the blended learning or flipped classroom programs is implemented with fidelity.
  4. Works with teachers on integrating virtual technology into classroom instruction.
  5. Works in conjunction with the Academic offices to edit existing courses or create new courses.
  6. Supports full time MVS students by providing content specific academic assistance.
  7. Works cooperatively with the Academic Operations Manager to successfully complete departmental responsibilities.
  8. Works cross functionally with other departments to achieve district goals.
  9. Creates professional development for online teachers, students, and parents for online or face-to-face delivery.
  10. Performs duties related to activities required to ensure accurate and timely submission of data.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires Middle School or High School CTE Certification, Master’s preferred.  Five (5) years teaching or equivalent experience recommended.  Must possess excellent teaching skills, with experience moving students to higher levels of achievement.  Must have excellent communication, and collaboration skills.  Must have experience with technology integration, preferably virtual tools.  Must have familiarity with video professional development tools.


Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included

  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, suggest options and prepare recommendations.
  • Ability to manage daily administrative tasks without losing sight of long-term goals and planning
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

Physical Demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment; must be able to use hands and fingers for sign language.

Unavoidable Hazards:  The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards.

Sensory (ADA) Requirements: The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities.
