Purpose and Scope

OVERVIEW

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

 

Works under general supervision to perform journeyman-level work, such as repairing and maintaining electrical wiring; evaluating layout plans and cost estimates; installing new systems; repairing existing electrical high and low voltage electrical systems; performing minor rebuilding tasks; and repairing or replacing miscellaneous equipment.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective repair and maintenance of all electrical equipment in the District.
  2. Inspects electrical installations of contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and electrical codes.
  3. Evaluates and estimates the cost of electrical repair and minor installations for new and/or remodeled projects.
  4. Plans layout and installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.
  5. Responds to electrical emergency situations, when requested.
  6. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited high school with a high school diploma or possess a GED; Plus, four (4) years’ experience in commercial electrical installation and /or maintenance. Memphis and Shelby County Journeyman Electrical License required. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included. 

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT(S):

 

  • Memphis and Shelby County Journeyman Electrical License required.

 

 

Additional Job Details

This position will work in Zone 2 and Zone 4.
