Purpose and Scope

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

 

The essential function of the position within the organization is to ensure that interior and exterior surface finishes throughout the District are maintained.  The position is responsible for performing painting work.

 

Essential Job Functions

  1. Performs skilled and semi-skilled painting work to support the maintenance of District facilities.
  2. Receives and responds to work orders for routine interior and exterior painting work, as well as the more artistic decorating of school walls.
  3. Prepares for painting by cleaning, applying joint compound, sanding and primer; paints building interiors and exteriors.
  4. Resurfaces and finishes furnishings and cabinets, doors and trim, playground equipment. 
  5. Assists in estimating and planning painting projects; accurately and promptly documents labor hours and materials expended on assigned tasks.
  6. May drive and operate trucks and other vehicles; operates various hand and power tools as necessary to accomplish tasks.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and four (4) year related experience. The position also requires a valid driver?s license.
