Purpose and Scope

OVERVIEW

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

 

The essential function of the position within the organization is to produce, write, shoot, edit, and report on District programming for the Broadcast Services Department (88.SFM/Cl 9TV). The incumbent also develops a variety of original programming for the stations.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Develops and delivers locally produced programs and public service announcements on topics that meet the standards of the District 's local educational broadcast channel and serve students, families, teachers, other District staff and the community.
  1. Serves as producer and videography team member; write, shoot, and edit news stories and original
  1. Produces shows that create awareness of District academic resources, schools, departments, achievements, initiatives, services and support.
  1. Collaborates with community organizations, agencies and businesses to develop education-related show concepts and identify sponsorships for specific productions or underwriting for station/show promotions.
  1. Operates production equipment during live events including school board meetings, press conferences, etc.
  1. Takes necessary steps to ensure the safety of staff, students, and the public during broadcasting activities.
  1. Receives and responds to inquiries, requests for assistance and complaints in areas of
  1. Assists with researching, cultivating, and soliciting support (underwriting /sponsorships) for our stations from corporations and businesses locally and nationally.
  1. Serves as on-air talent for station programming as needed.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:    Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field of study, plus an additional two (2) years related experience, for a total education/experience of six (6) years.

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
