Purpose and Scope

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

 

As a key member of the Strategic Programming and Innovation team, the Power Platform Advisor is responsible for the overall management and optimization of the Microsoft Power Platform within our organization, ensuring smooth and efficient operations across Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse environments. This role will be key in managing user access, permissions, and security protocols, providing direct support to users, and overseeing the maintenance of all Power Platform environments. The successful candidate will work closely with both technical teams and business users to support a seamless, secure, and scalable platform experience for users.

Essential Job Functions

  1. User Management – Administer user roles, permissions, and security groups within Power Platform environments; onboard and offboard users, ensuring appropriate access control and security measures; monitor user activity and license usage, ensuring compliance with licensing agreement
  2. Power Platform Support Resources – Build, deploy and maintain a comprehensive SharePoint support site for the Strategic Programming and Innovation team, containing user resources, up to date links, analytics, forms and other documents needed to maintain product integrity across the District
  3. Environment Management – Manage and maintain Power Platform environments (development, test, production), including creation, configuration, and capacity management; ensure proper backups, security protocols, and best practices across all environments
  4. System Performance & Monitoring – Proactively monitor system performance and health, identifying and resolving issues to maintain optimal system functionality; leverage Center of Excellence tools to conduct regular audits of the Power Platform environments for security compliance and resource optimization.
  5. User Support – Provide direct support to users, troubleshooting and resolving issues with Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse; create and update documentation, training materials, and guides to support users in maximizing Power Platform capabilities; deliver training sessions and assist users in adopting new features or tools within the platform.
  6. Workflow & Process Optimization – Analyze and optimize existing workflows, apps, and automations to improve performance and user efficiency; collaborate with teams to design and implement new workflows and applications that address business needs and enhance operations.
  7. Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams – Work closely with project managers, developers, consultants, and business stakeholders to support solution development and deployments; provide technical expertise and recommendations on Power Platform best practices and new features.
  8. System Maintenance & Updates – Stay current on Power Platform updates and enhancements, assessing their impact on existing systems and recommending improvements; collaborate with tenant administrator to plan and execute system upgrades or migrations with minimal disruption to business operations.
  9. Security & Compliance – Implement and maintain security protocols and best practices, ensuring data integrity and protection; collaborate with IT and compliance teams to ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements, especially in educational sectors.
  10. Reporting & Analytics – Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards ensuring they are optimized for performance and usability; assist stakeholders in creating actionable insights from data analytics and visualizations within Power BI.
  11. Problem Resolution & Escalation – Troubleshoot complex technical issues and escalate to appropriate teams when necessary; coordinate with MSCS help desk and MS support for critical incidents or advanced troubleshooting when required.
  12. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
