Purpose and Scope

The Strategy & Innovation Officer will ensure the district establishes targeted priorities and effectively monitors progress to attain ambitious results for kids. Develops training, manages comprehensive strategic plan, strengthens the District’s performance management platforms and processes, and prepares numerous reports to ensure mission alignment. A strong grasp of data analytics, technology integration, project management, change management, and quick turning around requests are necessary to be successful in this role.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides leadership and expertise to the school district in the areas of strategic thinking and planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation; program and project management; and other strategies, techniques and tools associated with high-performing organizations.
  • Ensures the successful completion of major projects and initiatives associated with the district’s strategic plan, Next Is Now, and others as assigned by the Superintendent or Special Assistant to the Superintendent.
  • Leads and oversees the Strategic Plan Accountability Committee (SPAC), and confers with district officials to plan business objectives, develop organizational policies, and coordinate functions. The committee provides oversight to ensure attainment of the goals outlined in the strategic plan.
  • Addresses planning implementation issues and challenges and assists in removing barriers inhibiting progress and/or success. Reports progress to the Superintendent.
  • Develops and implements tracking tools to ensure all goals, strategies and objectives of the strategic plan are met on time, on budget, and are delivered at or above the specified quality parameters.
  • Develops and delivers quarterly presentations regarding the district’s progress in meeting strategic plan goals and benchmarks to Special Assistant to the Superintendent, Superintendent, Senior Leaders, Board Commissioners, principals and other groups as needed.
  • Confers with district officials to plan business objectives, develop organizational policies, and coordinate cross-division and cross-departmental functions.
  • Drives the Superintendent’s employee and public engagement efforts to ensure district wide and representative participation in MSCS strategic planning and special projects.
  • Prepares recommendations for consideration and guidance to the Superintendent and other Senior Leaders on strategic thinking, project management and organizational development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree: in Strategy, Leadership, Business or Management
  • Master’s Degree (Preferred): in Strategy, Leadership, Business or Management 

EXPERIENCE:

  • 10 years' experience in IT, technology, business, marketing, or finance-related fields

(PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree=6 years plus required years of experience.
