SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

 

The Senior Dual Enrollment Advisor develops, implements and oversees the operations and processes of the Dual Enrollment and Statewide Dual Credit programs to expand postsecondary opportunities for students. This position is the liaison between the high schools/district, postsecondary institutions and the Tennessee Department of Education. The position serves as the lead on overseeing the expansion of each high school’s postsecondary opportunities to meet Ready Graduate indictors required by the state department.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Provides leadership and expertise to the District on college level courses through the District’s Dual Enrollment and Statewide Dual Credit programs, articulated technical and licensure courses; curricular support to develop, enhance and increase Dual Enrollment, Statewide Dual Credit and postsecondary opportunities particularly for underserved student populations and schools with curricular gaps aligned with the postsecondary enrollment.
  2. Provides knowledge, statistical reports and in-depth analysis of Dual Enrollment and Statewide Dual Credit data to district, principals and teachers to inform and strengthen academic practices, increase student achievement and develop strategic plans to expand postsecondary opportunities.
  3. Oversees all secondary Dual Enrollment programs to ensure that college enrollment and admissions requirements are met by collaborating with college partners. This monitoring includes:
  • Identify secondary teachers who meet the criteria under the Southern Association of College and School’s standards and are vetted as adjunct faculty
  • Develop collaborative relationships with college department heads and respective deans.
  • Partner with national assessment organizations such as National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) to maintain accurate accrediting of Dual Enrollment teachers and programs.
  • Ensure adherence to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) laws.
  1. Oversees all training and support of Statewide Dual Credit teachers and students to ensure that requirements are met. This monitoring includes:
  • Identify secondary teachers who meet the criteria under the TN Department of Education
  • Ensure secondary teachers meet mandatory training requirements.
  • Organize Statewide Dual Credit lead teacher teams in providing support to SDC district teachers

 

  1. Serves as lead advisor when providing guidance to schools on Dual Enrollment and Statewide Dual Credit programs through site visits of Dual Enrollment classes, course feedback, college resources, college textbooks, college tutors and mentors.

 

  1. Provides and monitors academic and fiscal resources to support the Dual Enrollment programs offered through the postsecondary institutions, eligibility and completion of grants and other funding sources

 

  1. Partners with colleges and state department to plan and conduct Dual Enrollment and Statewide Dual Credit specific professional growth activities for teachers and school administrators.
  • Oversees and conducts orientation and work sessions on Dual Enrollment and Statewide Dual Credit programs for administrators, secondary students, professional school counselors, college and career staff and parents.
  • Connects adjunct teachers with college/university deans, department heads and faculty for content-specific support.
  • Develops contacts with college/ university administration and other external professional development providers.

           

  1. Leads division team in Dual Enrollment and Statewide Dual Credit/postsecondary strategic planning with high schools and college partners.
  • Leads meetings and plans with college Dual Enrollment directors, high school principals, and other school and District administrators.
  • Assists principals and administrative staff in identifying a college partner, qualified or credentialed adjunct faculty and students who meet college admissions requirements.
  • Assists principals and school-based teams in identification of students who meet the criteria for Dual Enrollment, Statewide Dual Credit courses, and advanced technical or articulated courses using ACT, PSAT scores and required pre-requisites.
  • Assists principals in the identification of appropriate teachers for Dual Enrollment and Statewide Dual Credit courses.
  1. Manages the District’s Dual Enrollment and Statewide Dual Credit budgets. This includes working collaboratively with the district’s contract/legal offices and the deans or vice provosts of higher education institutions in securing MOUs and formal articulated agreements with partnering colleges and universities. Negotiates MOU terms and agreements with college partners. Ensures the district adheres to MOU guidelines and seeks additional partnerships for student postsecondary opportunities.
  2. Coordinates tuition payments and the purchasing of Statewide Dual Credit college textbooks and college textbooks to all participating Dual Enrollment students each semester and summer terms.
  3. Collaborates with the District’s Department of Student Information Management to create and align state Dual Enrollment and Statewide Dual Credit course codes. Ensures that course codes are accurately reflected in the District’s Power School database.
  4. Provides family and community outreach for Dual Enrollment throughout the year. Assists colleges/universities in the planning, development and supervision of districtwide student support activities.
  5. Assists with the development and support of Optional Programs and Advanced Academics, including providing guidance to school personnel, postsecondary liaisons and families regarding program admission and enrollment.
  6.  Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in an Education or a related field; PLUS five (5) years related experience in related field; OR equivalent combination or related education and experience totaling nine (9) years.  Five (5) or more years of school administrative experience is preferred.  Successful experience with Dual Enrollment programs in a leadership capacity preferred (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

 

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
