Purpose and Scope

Responsible for directing a staff and the efficient and effective operation of a region of the Mental Health Center Services. Manages staff at Family Wellness Centers.

Delivers at a high level of competency in psychology and social work, working on unusually complex problems and provides solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious, achieving quality and work process improvement.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Supervise direct reports to effectively recruit, train, motivate, delegate, monitor and evaluate their activities, including hiring, firing, and disciplinary decisions. Provide staff with resources needed to perform
  2. Provides leadership and a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, resourcefulness, and competency in psychology and social work;
  3. Works collaboratively with other professionals, and management to achieve a system-wide result. Formulate local targets, goals, and activities that are in accord with and support the broader goals and objectives of the
  4. Execute the responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards. Use personal judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles.
  5. Assist in the development of a departmental budget; present, and defend program budget requirements as it applies to the SEED/Academic Office, oversee and submit program expenditures and prepares financial forms and reports.
  6. Directs the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, correspondence, and files related to assigned service, activities, and operations;
  7. provides for appropriate research and compiles reports, as needed. Prepares and submits accurate and complete documentation of all assigned cases.
  8. Deals with unusually complex problems and provides solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious, achieving quality and work process improvements. Ensures that the workgroups goals and activities are in accord with and support the broader goals and objectives of the organization; and that the execution of responsibilities are in accordance to lawful and ethical
  9. Maintains awareness and expertise in current professional research, trends and methodologies as they apply to school psychological services; attends training, conferences and workshops as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in relevant area, plus an additional  four (4) years related experience, or equivalent, for a total education/experience of  ten (10) years to include a minimum of  four (4) years successful experience as School Social Worker or School Psychologist. Must be licensed by TN Department of Health or Mental Health as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Psychologist. Administrative experience is preferred.

(PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
