Purpose and Scope

The Energy Management Supervisor has extensive knowledge of the Energy Management system and functionalities of the department.  The incumbent supervises the installation, repair, operation, maintenance, and programming of energy management/building automation systems. The incumbent should display a solid understanding of energy management & commercial HVAC systems and have knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Monitors and maintains the Powers Process Control Language (PPCL) and BACnet building automation system in an environment that uses unit ventilators.
  2. Addresses and programs Terminal Equipment Controllers (TC’s) that can contain multiple PPCL programs.
  3. Oversees building automation/energy management systems programming and verifies results.
  4. Routinely monitors alerts on a Desigo Optic operating dashboard and alerts technicians to investigate them before disruptions occur.
  5. Identifies root causes of issues and troubleshoots by looking into the operating histories from system data logs, to prevent system, equipment, or device malfunctions from recurring.
  6. Maintains all inventory and equipment to ensure proper storage.
  7. Supervises and trains technicians on EMS functionalities, conducts follow-up on work performed by Energy Management & HVAC technicians, and ensures compliance with all health and safety regulations and practices.
  8. Maintains scheduling within Desigo Optic open building management software & Apogee Insight and allocates work as per forecasted workloads.
  9. Inspects work process to ensure standardization of control processes and sequences.
  10. Trains employees in new methods and procedures and establishes strategies to meet workload demands on time.
  1. Maintains records and files, including the approval of timecards and absences, and submits as required. Displays team effort and models exceptional customer service by maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weekend as needed/required by district. 
  2. Prioritizes facility building automation systems operations and maintenance, repair, and updates to existing facilities to optimize building equipment, systems, and operation. Ability to direct and verify coil performance evaluations, guidelines for air and water balance procedures and Proportional Integral and Derivative loop tuning to stabilize pumping systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field and 3 years related experience, or equivalent education, for a total education/experience of 7 years required.  Requires valid certification in the removal of CFCs in accordance with the EPA standard. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree=6 years plus required years of experience.
