Purpose and Scope

The Director of IT Applications is primarily responsible for overseeing the effective operation of all Memphis-Shelby County Schools district applications and the integration of data. This role will oversee the strategic design, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide application solutions. This role ensures that technology solutions align with business objectives, drive innovation, and optimize system performance. The Director collaborates with executive leadership, IT teams, and key business stakeholders to create scalable, secure, and high-performing application architectures that support the organization's growth and digital transformation initiatives. The position will integrate new applications into the organization and manage changes to existing applications. Supervises and maintains the organization's repository of software applications through best practices and appropriate staffing.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Oversee the design and development of district application solutions, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and adhere to best
  2. Direct a team of technology professionals that support all the business applications within the organization, g. ERP, SIS, iCIMS, PLZ, Clever, Strategic Programs, Power Platforms, Power Bl etc.
  3. Direct the development of any new software integration and manages internal systems integration to meet functional requirements and interface
  4. Establish standards and guidelines for software development, data analytics, integration, and application architecture to ensure consistency and
  5. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of solution architects, data analyst, and application developers, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
  6. Work closely with business leaders, IT teams, and vendors to understand requirements and deliver solutions that enhance business operations and customer
  7. Overseethe administration, operations, database maintenance and security of all applications to ensure effective operation, minimal downtime and data integrity.
  8. May require hands-on work to support and maintain current systems integration or SQL database development related to application software.
  9. Monitor performance of direct reports and provide coaching and counseling as needed.
  10. Performs all other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Services or similar field plus 10 years related experience, for a total education/experience of fourteen (14) years.

(PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
