Purpose and Scope

Provide expert support to students, teachers, District personnel and schools through virtual on-line learning. Build capacity for schools and District based staff to sustain virtual instructional curriculum and professional development implementation by providing personnel with training and support needed to ensure implementation of virtual learning. Oversees the implementation and ongoing management of district innovation initiatives at the school, regional, and district levels accessible through virtual and on-line learning platforms. Analyzes student and school online course data to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses then work with schools, teachers and students to manage and rectify problems impeding student success.

Essential Job Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge or abilities associated with this classification, but are intended to accurately reflect the primary job elements.

 

1. Works collaboratively with the Memphis Virtual School (MVS) administration team to plan, prepare and implement changes and updates in all platforms utilized for virtual online instruction including but not limited to Canvas Learning Management System, Grade Results and PowerSchool.
2. Analyzes student and school online course data to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses then work with schools, teachers and students to manage and rectify problems impeding student success.
3. Support District staffing needs for certified teachers in high need and/or teacher shortage areas.
4. Coaches school administrators and MVS online teachers with technical issues (log-on, troubleshooting device issues, problems logging on to Canvas or FLVS, etc.)
5. Visits schools and classrooms to ensure the blended learning or flipped classroom programs is implemented with fidelity.
6. Works with teachers on integrating virtual technology into classroom instruction.
7. Works in conjunction with the Academic offices to edit existing courses or create new courses offered in an on-line learning environment.

8.Provide instructional and technological supports to full-time MVS students and students in grades 9-12 enrolled in on-line and credit recovery courses by providing content specific academic assistance, accommodations and modifications.
9. Creates and conducts professional development for online teachers, students, and parents for online and face-to-face delivery of virtual coursework.
10. This person will be directly responsible for assisting students with technical issues when the part-time teacher of record is unavailable.
11. Keeps abreast and communicate instructional best practices with Virtual School leadership to provide maximum instructional effectiveness in an on-line learning environment.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Master’s preferred), Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field plus a minimum of four (4) years experience or equivalent for a total of eight (8) years experience. Must have experience with technology integration, preferably virtual tools. Must have Power School Master Scheduler experience. Must have familiarity with video professional development tools.

Degree Equivalency Formula:


Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
