Purpose and Scope

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

 

The Enrollment & Attendance Advisor serves as a capacity-building catalyst for students, schools, and families. This position works to ensure district-wide enrollment, registration, attendance, and compliance with all students including those from other countries, to Hispanic, Arabic, and all other ethnicities.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Maintains and updates student information as it relates to the Registrar’s office to ensure ongoing compliance with enrollment, recruitment, custody matters and state and federal regulations.
  2. Ensures enrollment compliance for students with disabilities as well as, displaced families; interprets data and results to support recruitment, district staffing, school projections, student retention, and training.
  3. Connects families with outside agencies for greater support including, full wrap-around-services; delivers high quality work and a continuous improvement process centered around English-Language (EL) students and families served under the McKinney Vento Homeless Assistance Act. 
  4. Develops and implements strategic enrollment and recruitment initiatives for the MSCS District, which includes resolving unusually complex problems and providing solutions that are sometimes highly sensitive.
  5. Acts as a primary liaison between Central Office Managers and other departments serving as a one-stop-shop to managers to troubleshoot issues, provide guidance and address questions related to common Registration/Enrollment issues (e.g., PowerSchool, PowerSchool Enrollment).
  6. Provides support of ongoing efforts to align enrollment policies and procedures based on analytics and trends.
  7. Coordinates with the Department of Student Affairs to develop recruitment plans and evaluate enrollment processes in an effort to recruit, reclaim and retain students from ASD, Charter, Municipal and private/parochial.
  8. Assesses and performs analysis on student enrollment projections, interpretation, and orientation of enrollment guidelines to ensure compliance with state-mandated regulations.
  9. Determines if any student rights, policies, procedures, laws or regulations have been violated; reports findings to appropriate personnel and district officials; advises on the legal ramifications of specific decisions.
  10. Provides support for ongoing evaluation of initiatives and strategies; manages data collection and analysis processes, identifying areas in need of improvement, planning, implementing, and evaluating.
  11. Provides training to help parents, whose primary first language is not English, to work with their children to improve their children’s achievement, such as literacy training and using technology, as appropriate, to foster parental involvement.
  12. Demonstrates high levels of cultural proficiency and self-awareness with the ability to build relationships and maintain strong school community collaborations across diverse communities.
  13. Conducts research on current trends and topics, shares new learning with team members and develops/recommends improvements to the work.
  14. Participates in regular reviews of district policies and researches best practices related to student and school support as outlined in FERPA and the Office of Civil Rights.
  15. Creates presentations, newsletters, marketing materials, and other written documents to communicate with varied audiences.
  16. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Policy Studies, Communications, or other related field Plus five (5) years of related experience or equivalent, for a total education/experience of nine (9) years.  Proven successful experience working with families and in a school setting preferred. Ability to travel 50% of the time.  Bi-lingual preferred.

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree=6 years plus required years of experience. 

Additional Job Details

This position will have a strong focus on improving student attendance and supporting school-based efforts to reduce chronic absenteeism. PowerSchool and PowerSchool Enrollment experience required. Bi-lingual skills are highly desirable.
