Purpose and Scope

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

 

The Dual Enrollment Advisor provides expertise, leadership, collaboration and innovation in the Dual Enrollment and Statewide Dual Credit programs.  Provides students with a rigorous, college-level academic experience and preparation for post-secondary success.   

Essential Job Functions

This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge or abilities associated with this classification, but is intended to accurately reflect the primary job elements.

  1. Provides expertise to the District on college courses through the District’s Dual Enrollment/Statewide Dual Credit Programs and Postsecondary-related programs, enrollment in Dual Enrollment college level courses, articulated technical and licensure courses; curricular support to develop, enhance and increase Dual Enrollment/postsecondary opportunities particularly for underserved student populations and school with curricular gaps aligned with the enrollment college courses.

 

  1. Provides knowledge of postsecondary national research, enhanced college course initiatives based on partnering college’s guidelines and enrollment criteria

 

  1. Monitors all secondary Dual Enrollment programs to ensure that college enrollment and admissions requirements are met. This monitoring includes:

 

  • Identification of secondary teachers who meet the criteria under the Southern Association of College and School’s standards
  • Ensuring the secondary teachers are vetted as adjunct faculty
  • Developing collaborative relationships with college department heads and respective deans.
  • Partner with national assessment organizations such as National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) to maintain accurate accrediting of Dual Enrollment teachers and programs

 

  1. Provides specific support to Dual Enrollment /Statewide Dual Credit programs in schools through site visits of dual enrollment and statewide dual credit classes, course feedback, academic alerts, college resources, college textbooks, college tutors and mentors.

 

  1. Provides and monitors academic and fiscal resources to support the dual enrollment programs offered through the postsecondary institutions, eligibility and completion of:
  • Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) and
  • Middle College National Consortium (MCNC) member organization and
  • National Center of Restructuring Education, Schools and Teachers (NCREST), at Teachers College, Columbia University

 

  1. Partners with colleges to plan and conduct Dual Enrollment specific professional growth activities for teachers and school administrators. Leads and/or conducts workshops and orientations sessions on Dual Enrollment programs for administrators, secondary students, professional school counselors, college and career staff and parents. Connects adjunct teachers with college/university deans, department heads and faculty for content-specific support. Develops contacts with college/ university administration and other external professional development providers.

 

  1. Leads division team in Dual Enrollment/Statewide Dual Credit programs postsecondary strategic planning.

 

  • Meets and plans with college Dual Enrollment directors, high school principals, lead statewide dual credit teachers and other school and District administrators.

 

  • Assist principals and administrative staff in identifying a college partner, qualified or credentialed adjunct faculty and students who meet college admissions requirements.

 

  • Assist principals and school-based teams in identification of students who meet the criteria for dual enrollment courses and advanced technical or articulated courses using PLAN, ACT, and SAT scores.

 

  • Assist principals in the identification of appropriate teachers for Dual Enrollment courses.

 

  1. Provides in-depth analysis of Dual Enrollment/Statewide Dual Credit programs data to District, principals and teachers to inform and strengthen academic practices, increase student achievement and develop strategic plans to identify underserved students, career electives, and licensures. etc. This data is also used by NACEP and MCNC for national analysis of Dual Enrollment.

 

  1. Manages the district’s Dual Enrollment/Statewide Dual Credit programs budget. This includes working collaboratively with the districts contract office and the deans or vice-presidents of higher education institutions in securing MOU’s and formal articulated agreements with partnering colleges and universities.

 

  1. Coordinates registration, tuition payments, and the purchasing and distribution of college textbooks to all participating Dual enrollment students each semester and summer terms.

 

  1. Provides family and community outreach for Dual Enrollment/Statewide Dual Credit programs throughout the year. Assists colleges/universities in the planning, development and supervision of District-wide student support activities.

 

  1. Assists with the development and support of Optional Programs and Advanced Academics, including providing guidance to school personnel, postsecondary liaisons and families regarding program admission and enrollment.

 

  1. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation form an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in an Education or a related field; PLUS four (4) years related experience in related field; OR equivalent combination or related education and experience totaling eight (8) years.  Five (5) or more years of school administrative experience is preferred.  Successful experience with Dual Enrollment programs in a leadership capacity preferred.  (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

 

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
