Purpose and Scope

The position of Advisor – CCTE provides technical assistance and support to teachers and students as prescribed by cooperative planning with essential staff and directed by educational resources. The advisor may work on-site with teachers, at designated locations, to help with online programming, curriculum planning, utilization of instructional resources, adaptation of curriculum standards to meet the needs of specials students, incorporation of specialized units of study into existing curricula, classroom management and reporting deadlines, for local, state and federal accountability and reviews.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Provides support in developing, monitoring and implementing appropriate curriculum to meet the identified needs of students. This position requires a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, resourcefulness, and competency in maintaining standards of excellence in college and career technical education.
  2. Assist teachers in the development of effective instructional and assessment techniques which are research based in order to increase student mastery of state standards; advances teacher’s knowledge of state and district content standards and understanding of current evaluation process.
  3. Assists in providing instructional and technical support to teachers by providing opportunities for professional growth and development.
  4. Monitors complex problems and offers solutions, when needed, that are highly innovative and ingenious, achieving quality and work process improvements. Ensure that the workgroup's goals and activities are synchronized with the broader goals and objectives of the District; and that the executions of responsibilities are in accordance with lawful and ethical standards.
  5. Assists in disaggregating student data, identifying student needs, selecting textbooks and curriculum material, and establishing programmatic goals.
  6. Assist with the planning and delivery of professional growth programs, workshops, and other in-service activities.
  7. Assist in the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, and correspondence related to assigned services, activities, and operations; provides appropriate data and reports as needed.
  8. Shares effective and ineffective teaching strategies with principals and assists with plans for improvement.
  9. Plan, evaluate, coordinate and implement activities related to career and technical student organizations.
  10. Performs other related responsibilities as required or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related area plus an additional 4 years related experience, or equivalent for a total education/experience of 8 years; current Tennessee Teaching License required. A minimum of four years of successful experience as a classroom teacher. Preferred proficient in the use of technology to include video presentation, Microsoft Word, database, and spreadsheet applications. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
