Purpose and Scope

The position of District Compliance Advisor works under the directions of Manager – Government Affairs & Compliance.  Delivers a high level of competency in legal and policy compliance and works on unusually complex problems and provides solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious, achieving quality work process and improvement.  The Advisor leads the development of compliance programs and influences organizational policy to ensure adherence to state and federal laws.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Develops and implements compliance strategies and provides strategic guidance to district leadership and departments to ensure proactive district-wide compliance with policies, state, and federal laws.
  2. Serves as the primary consultant for the investigation and resolution of complex organizational non-compliance issues; and assists with development of strategic action plans to prevent recurrence.
  3. Proactively advises district leadership on necessary operational modifications and emerging compliance risks.
  4. Maintains data related to compliance audits, reviews, and analyses.
  5. Reviews, monitors and performs compliance audits with business units within the District.
  6. Monitors and review legislation, laws, and regulations applicable to (Local Education Agencies (LEA) and Board policies to ensure the District is compliant regarding federal, state, and Board expectations.
  7. Serves as key strategic liaison and contact with state and federal agencies on compliance reviews, audits, and analysis related to compliance expectations.
  8. Designs and delivers training programs to educate staff and leadership on compliance policies and regulatory changes.
  9. Contributes to the creation and refinement of Board policies and procedures.
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Business or Compliance Management or related field plus five (5) years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of related education/experience totaling nine (9) years. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree=6 years plus required years of experience.
