Purpose and Scope

The position of Server Support – Central Kitchen works under the direction of the Supervisor – Central Kitchen to assist in ensuring the production of nutritious meals in a clean and sanitary work area for the students of Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS). This position is responsible for performing duties in food manufacturing, processing and packaging of large quantities of school food service meals; and may be required to assist Supervisor – Central Kitchen with preparing and serving community partners and charter sites as related to school visits and special events.  

Essential Job Functions

  1. Prepares food within the establish production system following meal standards, standardized recipes, preparation, and service methods in a safe and cost-efficient manner.
  2. Follows written recipes and instructions using mathematics to check recipe conversions and calculate food quantities needed.
  3. Observes and follows guidelines of set procedures for proper personal safety, food safety and sanitation and responsible for the cleanliness of preparation areas, storerooms, freezers, refrigerators, and equipment.
  4. Operates high-speed packaging equipment batch meals.
  5. Supports special catering events and assist Mobile Supervisor at off sites when needed.
  6. Operates, disassembles, cleans, and sanitizes equipment in the production area, including high speed packing equipment based on established guidelines.
  7. Places stock in storerooms, refrigerators, and freezers in a first-in first-out order as needed: and monitors and records cooking times and temperatures as required by consumer safety under Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HAACP).
  8. Performs all duties in compliance with school and District policies, procedures and standards of quality and safety.
  9. Attends training and meetings as necessary to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills.
  10. Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires High School Diploma or GED plus (1) one year of related experience in food service.

(PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
