Purpose and Scope

The Behavior Analyst BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) supports district wide special education staff, general education teachers and administrators in the provision of behavioral supports and services designed to assist students exhibiting problematic behaviors and provides strategies/interventions to help the student become successful in the learning environment. Supports the whole child by providing mentorship opportunities.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Designs, develops, and implements with appropriate district approvals, management and/or behavior interventions when students require services per their IEP.
  2. Participates in behavior teams providing support and management for the implementation of behavior plans.
  3. Maintain appropriate records, assist, and provide guidance for teachers and other staff in the implementation of behavioral interventions.
  4. Provides coaching and professional development to staff on behavior interventions and supports.
  5. Participates in planning and placement team meetings on a as needed basis.
  6. Brainstorm with regular classroom teachers, along with special education teachers/pupil services staffing regarding students with behavioral challenges
  7. Participates in the referral and/por re-evaluation process for selected students with a diagnosis of ASD is being considered for school determined eligibility
  8. Provides consultation to the BICC team (district program serving students with ASD)
  9. Works cooperatively with special education administers, school psychologists, social workers and special education teachers in developing FBA/BIP procedures and paperwork.
  10. Assists with maintaining student data and prepare pertinent reports requested by the Director, Manger, or Advisors of Exceptional Children.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in Special-Education, Psychology, School Psychology, Social Work or a related field plus four (4) years of experience implementing positive behavior intervention with K-12 students; OR a combination of education/experience totaling eight (8) years; Must have passed the BCBA examination administered by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
