Purpose and Scope

Delivers at a competency in the maintenance of accounting and internal control systems for the assigned area using established accounting procedures and policies. Assesses and performs analysis on data, and prepares data to facilitate Accounts Payable functions of organization. Responsibilities require understanding of both theory and practice.  

Essential Job Functions

1. Processes and reconciles vendor accounts and Nutrition Services cafeteria drop shipments.2. Balances weekly reports.3. Coordinates daily office activities and supervision of accounting assistant staff in performing daily departmental operations.4. Trains new employees and provides assignment of daily workloads.5. Functions as part of a leadership supervisory team with Manager of Accounts Payable.6. Enters, verifies for accuracy, updates and retrieves computer data; prepares spreadsheets.7. Ensures all financial paperwork includes proper signatures and coding as required.8. Audits financial records by examining, verifying and reviewing accounts, invoices, bills and vouchers; researches accounting problems and discrepancies in records; makes or initiates corrections as necessary.9. Compiles data for and prepares periodic and special reports as required by the department, school, District and other agencies; assists with various financial analyses as requested.10. Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints and requests for assistance from personnel and employees regarding areas of responsibility.11. Prepares, types, copies, files, transmits and/or mails various records, reports, notices, forms and correspondence.12. Attends staff, committee and other meetings as required. Attends training, meetings, seminars and/or workshops to enhance job knowledge and skills.13. Recommends and reviews expenditures for the area of responsibility; provides fiscal data for preparation of the annual budget.14. Performs other duties as required, including but not limited to establishing and maintaining files, copying and filing documents, sending and receiving faxes and e-mails, answering the telephone, processing mail, maintaining lists and logs, ordering office supplies.15. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in in Accounting or other related area or equivalent, for a total education/experience of 4 years.
