Purpose and Scope

The Partnerships & Development Advisor serves as a key liaison between Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) and community, corporate, and nonprofit partners. This role is responsible for cultivating, managing, and expanding partnerships that support district priorities, with a focus on school adoption programs, resource alignment, and collaborative initiatives that enhance student learning and well-being. The Partnership & Development Advisor ensures that partnerships are strategically aligned with district goals and deliver measurable outcomes.

Essential Job Functions

1. Build and maintain relationships with corporate, nonprofit, and community partners.


2. Serve as primary contact for assigned schools and partners and respond to inquiries and provide timely follow-up.


3. Work directly with school leaders to assess needs, align resources, and coordinate partner activities/events that support academic enrichment and wellness initiatives.


4. Identify potential new partners; prepare and deliver presentations about MSCS partnership opportunities and participate in community/networking events to grow the partner base.


5. Maintain accurate records of partnership activities, contributions, and outcomes in the district's partnership management system.


6. Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.


7. Collaborate with internal teams to plan and execute special events, recognition programs, and partner engagement activities.


8. Assist the Manager of Partnerships & Development with strategic planning, program evaluation, and development of materials to support the department's mission.


9. Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, Communications, Public Relations, or related field plus four (4) years’ experience in partnership management, community relations, development, or related field OR combination of education and experience for a total of eight (8) years. Experience in K-12 education or nonprofit preferred. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
