Purpose and Scope

Delivers at a high level of competency in the command and control for emergency management for the district charter schools including the coordination of communications, evacuation, staff, and execution of clean-up operations brought about by inclement weather, security breech, terrorist attack, or hazmat spills. Works on unusually complex problems and provides solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious, achieving quality and work process improvement.  

Essential Job Functions

  1. Provides leadership and a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, resourcefulness, and competency in emergency management and is viewed as expert within the field.
  2. Acts as command and control for emergency management for the district charter schools, including the coordination of communications, evacuation of students and staff, and execution of clean-up operations with the goal of saving lives. Such situations are brought about by such situations as inclement weather, security breech, terrorist attack, or hazmat spills.
  3. Works collaboratively with other professionals, and management to achieve a system-wide result. May lead a team in the effort.
  4. Deals with unusually complex problems such as threats of mass violence, bomb threats, and community crises and provide solutions that are in the best interest of students, staff, and families to achieve quality and process improvements.
  5. Ensures that the workgroup goals and activities are in sync with and support the broader goals and objectives of the organization; and that the execution of responsibilities is in accordance with lawful and ethical standards.
  6. Directs the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, correspondence, and files related to the Emergency Operation Plans (EOP) activities such as monthly drills, the Online Submission System (OLSS), and operations; assigned service, activities, and operations; provides for appropriate research in alignment with Tennessee Code Annotated and State Rule and compiles reports, as needed.
  7. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Education or a closely related field plus a minimum of four (4) years related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education/experience totaling eight (8) years. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree=6 years plus required years of experience.
