Purpose and Scope

Works in an instructional support capacity to provide professional learning, technical guidance and best practice resources and materials in the area of Response to Instruction & Intervention (RTI2); liaises between Charter Schools, Curriculum and Instruction, and the Division of Exceptional Children and Health Services for compliance and due process issues related to students suspected of having impairments or disabilities; and ensures adherence to state RTI2 implementation for district authorized charter schools.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Supports and monitors implementation of the TDOE Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTI2) Framework and curriculum for increasing student achievement.
  2. Collaborate with the Office of Charter Schools to provide grade band support as it relates to implementation of the RTI2 framework.
  3. Analyzes assessment data and advises each school’s RTI2 Data Team relative to identifying the specific needs, placement, and progress monitoring of struggling students through the RTI2 model.
  4. Leads whole and small group professional development efforts that support the enhancement of teacher use of classroom-based, developmentally appropriate intervention instruction and strategies for individual children and groups of children to enhance acquisition of social/emotional and cognitive skills.
  5. Works collaboratively with school-based Data Team and Charter Schools Points of Contact to address and problem solve issues or questions about implementing the RTI2 model, with an understanding that each school will have different needs based on the student population.
  6. Demonstrates an understanding on the topics of dyslexia and characteristics of dyslexia and the student support plans that outline classroom support.
  7. Ensure implementation of the ILPD plans for students displaying characteristics of dyslexia.
  8. Utilizes understanding of how to select and analyze data related to individual students, groups of students and classrooms to positively impact achievement and behavior.
  9. Participate in regular, informal walkthroughs and site visits of MSCS authorized charter schools, focusing on instructional practices and essential program terms.
  10. Develops and facilitates professional learning sessions on topics in alignment with state and federal guidelines.
  11. Analyze student results and achievement data for instructional decision-making and school improvement planning.
  12. Provides training and ongoing support for data systems that provide critical student achievement data and information (ie. i-Ready, aimsweb, EdPlan, PowerBi, etc.).
  13. Maintains records and ensures compliance with federal, state and local guidelines and reporting requirements.
  14. Stay abreast of regulatory changes and other relevant updates related to academic interventions by attending local, regional, and staff professional development and prepare written reports and/or presentations of learning.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field plus a minimum of five (5) years of related experience related to the area of assignment; OR an equivalent combination of related education and/or experience totaling nine (9) years.  Valid State of Tennessee teacher licensure certification required. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree=6 years plus required years of experience.
