Purpose and Scope

The Senior Advisor – Data Analytics works closely with the Manager of the Decision Analytics & Information Management team (DAIM) to support efficient and high-quality report delivery to district stakeholders. This position informs the strategic resolution of unusually complex problems, delivers high quality work, and drives continuous process improvement for the DAIM team. The Senior Advisor - Data Analytics lead high complexity, high impact projects/products from ideation to delivery, with an emphasis on measurable, value-added deliverables. This position will also support the technical skill development of Power BI developers outside of the Research and Performance Management department to increase the analytic capacity of the district overall. 

Essential Job Functions

  1. Develops efficient and precise systems to deliver high-quality reporting and aids with developing policies, processes, and procedures to support data quality, access, and integrity in Power BI.
  2. Advises Decision Analytics and Information Management (DAIM) management on Power BI development and technical issues/challenges and recommends innovative and sustainable solutions
  3. Supplies expertise and guidance on all Power BI related topics to find obstacles, generate options, and implement creative solutions to best address user concerns or development challenges.
  4. Leads team in code reviews and ensures fidelity of technical documentation, quality assurance and performance testing for all Power BI reporting in production environment.
  5. Supports engineering team with creating SQL queries for Power BI or ad hoc reporting as needed.
  6. Delivers end-to-end analytics services from data ingestion, analysis, and visualization to documenting insights and recommendations in client deliverables and presentations. 
  7. Responsible for translating the information needs of stakeholders into data visualizations that convey actionable insights via compelling visuals.
  8. Collaborates with Decision Analytics and Information Management (DAIM) to generate sprint plans, roadmaps, and realistic timelines.
  9. Supports and trains district stakeholders in Power BI development to increase district capacity for data-driven decision-making.
  10.  Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field and related experience in PowerBI, SQL,data analytics or any business intelligence tools where education and experience totaling a minimum of nine (9) years.  Specific coursework in Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or Data Science is preferred.  A related master’s degree or Ph.D. degree is highly preferred.  PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where master’s degrees are required, years for bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
