Purpose and Scope

The Senior HR Data Analyst will be responsible for developing, maintaining, monitoring and extending the data visualization and analytics architecture to meet the analysis and reporting needs of Human Resources. The position will work closely with Human Resources departments and various vendors to transform disparate raw data from multiple platforms into an easily accessible data store through the application of a defined data standard. The position requires flexibility, an eagerness to take on new challenges and collaboration with cross-functional teams to advance human resources analytics of Memphis Shelby County Schools.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Works closely with Human Resources team to build/maintain table structure that aligns with date standard, delivers intuitive Microsoft PowerBI visualizations and empowers ad hoc querying and analysis of the data by business analysts.
  2. Responsible for managing permissions, data transfers, overall health and performance of the integration management solution and MS SQL warehouse in a cloud environment.
  3. Works closely with vendor managed services team to maintain structured, high performing cloud environment.
  4. Identifies and execute database improvement opportunities to provide a superior experience for end users performing ad hoc analysis.
  5. Develops, promotes, and deploys stored procedures that improve data accessibility and optimize new reporting requirements.
  6. Implements processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available for key stakeholders and business processes that depend on it.
  7. Assists with the analytical agenda for the Human Resources team by identifying and reporting key measures of success for district priority areas. Maintains the KPI dashboards for priority areas and ensures the most strategic metrics are reviewed frequently.
  8. Determines, enforces and documents database policies, procedures and standards.
  9. Completes tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity.
  10. Designs data integrations and data quality framework.
  11. Designs and evaluates open source and vendor tools for data lineage.
  12. Works closely with all business units and teams to develop strategy for long term data platform architecture.
  13. Performs all other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited university or college with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Services, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or closely related field; Plus five (5) years of related experience: OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience totaling nine (9) years.


(PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).
5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience preferred.

Experience managing a SaaS environment with a managed services vendor partnership a plus.

Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools. 1 year of SQL Azure experience preferred.

Degree Equivalency Formula:
Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years plus required years of experience. 4 years of additional experience in lieu of degree level.
Master’s Degree = 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included. 6 years of additional experience in lieu of degree level.
