Purpose and Scope

The Decisions Analytics Advisor works closely with the DAIM Management and Senior Advisor to define, prioritize and deliver high-quality performance insights that support data informed decision-making across Memphis Shelby County Schools, advancing strategic initiatives, operational effectiveness, and continuous improvement. This position uses the business requirements of our customers and then translates the output into interactive and insightful visualizations through the use of Microsoft PowerBI. It is the responsibility of this role to problem solve through data investigations of questions that limit provider outcomes, gather information and make recommendations to drive reporting innovation using PowerBI dashboards and reports tailored to the needs of customers. The Decisions Analytics Advisor leads high complexity, high impact projects/products from ideation to delivery, with an emphasis on measurable, value added deliverables.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Enhances stakeholders capabilities through supporting cross-functional teams with advanced data analysis and visualization in PowerBI.
  2. Delivers end to end analytics services from data ingestion, analysis and visualization to documenting insights and recommendations in client deliverables and presentations.
  3. Responsible for translating the information needs of stakeholders into data visualizations that convey actionable insights via compelling visuals.
  4. Works directly with stakeholders and a variety of other consulting services to identify business challenges to deliver a meaningful and automated visualization.
  5. Provides analytic and consultative support to a broad spectrum of internal and external stakeholder areas.
  6. Leads the interpretation of raw data, statistical results or otherwise compiles information through the Microsoft PowerBI interface.
  7. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field and related experience in PowerBI, SQL, data analytics, or other business intelligence tools where education and experience total a minimum of eight (8) years. Specific coursework in Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or Data Science is preferred. A related Master’s degree is preferred but not required. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

 

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
